The RPS 400 at the Boyce Arboretum
We are excited to share a recent success story with you about the use of one of our solar powered water pumps – the RPS 400 – at the Boyce Arboretum in Arizona. The Boyce Thompson Arboretum is the oldest and largest botanical garden in the state of Arizona. It is one of the oldest botanical institutions west of the Mississippi River. The arboretum chose to use the RPS 400 system to pump water from a cistern up a 60-foot hill to the top of a cliff, creating a beautiful water feature that helps to hydrate the wildlife and educate visitors about the power of solar energy in the desert.
Our RPS 400 is one of our best sellers and is the go-to system for farmers and ranchers with moderate head and water requirements. It is easy to install, with four solar panels that can be mounted on a single pole. At low head, the RPS 400 can still pump an impressive 2700 gallons per day, and over 400 gallons at 250 feet. Plus, for added flexibility and peace of mind, you can use batteries or a generator to supplement the pump as needed.
One of the key features of the RPS 400 is its highly efficient brushless permanent magnet motor, which means there is no need to replace carbon brushes and you can enjoy years of smooth, reliable performance. We stand behind the quality of our pumps with a Lifetime Rotor Warranty, and the RPS 400 is the only field-serviceable solar powered water pump available, which can save you thousands of dollars compared to other options.
Solar water pumps are a sustainable and environmentally-friendly option for moving water. Because they are powered by solar energy, they do not rely on fossil fuels and do not produce any harmful emissions. This makes them a perfect fit for arboretums or botanical gardens.
Not only are solar water pumps good for the environment, but they can also be a practical choice. They can be an efficient and cost-effective way to move and distribute water, especially in areas with limited or scarce water resources, or where grid power is limited.
Overall, using solar water pumps in the Boyce arboretum is a great way to support its long-term sustainability.
