Do I Need a Dual Pump System vs Direct-Drive?

What is Direct-Drive?

Direct drive means we take the power from the sun and our controller uses that to directly drive the motor. It adjusts the speed of the motor to make sure it’s matching exactly the solar power coming in to maximize the amount of water it’s pumping in any given solar condition. Typically either you fill up a stock tank that allows for a couple of days of water or you fill up a storage tank that also allows for extended periods of water, because we won’t be pumping at night and we won’t be pumping on really cloudy days.

What is a Dual Pump System?

In a Dual Pump System you’ll use 2 different pumps to achieve your goal:

  1. With your Source-to-Tank you’ll pump as much water as possible from water source to a tank when you have sun.
  2. With your Tank-to-Pressure pump, you’ll solar charge batteries during the day, then use that power whenever you need to irrigate.
