Can I connect a pump directly to a solar panel?

With an RPS Submersible Solar Pump, you cannot directly connect the pump into the solar panels. RPS Submersible Solar pumps require a control box where you can wire the pump directly into it, and you will also connect the Solar Panels to the control box. Not every RPS Solar Pump is the same, and some pumps do not require a control box. However, the entire line of RPS Solar Pumps will not allow you to connect the pump directly to the solar panels. We have found that when connecting pumps directly to solar panels it eliminates the versatility and capabilities when using solar to power a pump. With an external control box you have the opportunity to easily troubleshoot without having to pull the pump completely out of the well. In addition, it allows easier access to use backup options for your pump when the sun does not shine.
